And oh how ready we were for this! To celebrate my 30th birthday on Saturday, Brian scored us a fairly cheap king suite at the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Denver. Grandma & Grandpa Boyd -- who have taken the lead in the Grandparents of the Year race (sorry mom and dad, I'm sure you'll catch up) -- bravely offered to stay with the Little for the entire night.
It was great. We checked in around 4:00 and enjoyed a bottle of wine that was given to us on our wedding day. Then around 5:30, just as we were about to head down to the complimentary happy hour in the hotel bar, there was a knock on the door. My parents had sent a bottle of champagne (see guys, you're catching up!). So, we drank most of that. Then we went down to the free version of happy hour, but decided we didn't want Coors Light or crappy wine, so we went to the not-free happy hour for cocktails before dinner. If this is starting to sound like we spent most of my birthday drinking alcohol in various places, sorry, but we pretty much did. Like I said, it was great. Saturday kicked off Restaurant Week in Denver, where most restaurants in town offer a pre-fixed three-course menu for $52.80 per couple (5280 feet in a mile; Mile High City, get it?). Even though we'd started looking for reservations two weeks ago, very few restaurants had anything available Saturday night, and even fewer had anything available between the reasonable hours of 5-9pm. We ended up eating at Prime Steakhouse. That was great too. Oh, and in case you were wondering, we each had a glass of wine at dinner too.
Then the clock struck 9:45pm and we turned into pumpkins. Well, what really happened was that I had forgotten the parts to my pump, and I started to feel like I was going to explode. So if you must know, we went back to the hotel and I squeezed milk into the sink for about 20 minutes. Then we went to bed and had our first uninterrupted night of sleep in almost five months (minus having to get up and do the squeezing thing for another 40 minutes at 5:45am).
When we got home in the morning, Autumn looked happy and Deb and Doug didn't pass her right off and leave immediately -- so we took that as a good sign. Nevermind that their only call through their stay with Autumn was to ask how to make a second pot of coffee (Brian had pre-set a full pot before we left). Really though, they said it went well, so what can we do other than to believe them and hope they are up for the challenge again in the future?

Being a mom is so sexy. Squeezing milk into the sink. Awesome.
I'm glad you enjoyed your adult evening out! We need to get all the kids together one of these days, before my baby ain't a baby anymore. :(
Omg, love it. I'm so glad you guys got a night to yourselves, you deserve it! You didn't crash any surprise weddings though? Dang it ; )
